The Strategic Planning Division is headed by the Undersecretary, Diplomatic and Administrative Officer, grade C. It is responsible for matters related to planning, research, execution and monitoring of implementation of the ministry’s policies. Its main branches are:

• Research Branch
• Cabinet, Parliament and Relations Branch
• Communications Planning Branch
• Data Management Branch

VISION

• To be a leader in planning, research, execution and monitoring of implementation of information sector policies and policies related to communications and digital in accordance with the principles of 1Malaysia concept

MISSION

• To strengthen the planning and coordination of information sector policies and policies related to communications and digital in line with the principles of 1Malaysia concept;
• To lead research that is accurate, relevant and comprehensive on the ministry’s activities/programmes
• To improve monitoring of the implementation of information sector policies and policies related to communications and digital

OBJECTIVES

• To ensure planning, development and research relating to the ministry’s broadcasting, information and filming policies are implemented effectively and in line with the National Vision Policy

RESEARCH BRANCH

• To plan, implement and monitor studies and research that are related to the ministry’s functions
• To provide advice on research 
• To publish the ministry’s statistics and information book

COMMUNICATIONS PLANNING BRANCH 
(Strategic Communications/Perception Management/Reaction Management)

• To develop and plan policies and strategies to deflect accusations, slander and issues against the government portrayed by any domestic and international media
• To manage and plan communications strategies
• To design strategies for marketing and dissemination of information in the social media
• Policy Planning Committee meetings

DATA MANAGEMENT BRANCH 
(Data Management)

• To serve as secretariat for the National Big Data Committee 
• To establish a system for the implementation of big data for the ministry 
• To serve as secretariat for the ministry’s Transformation Plan 
• To serve as secretariat for the Long-Term Strategic Plan
• To coordinate issues relating to the NKRA/NKEA, Blue Ocean and PEMUDAH
• To serve as secretariat for the ministry’s Coordinating Committee
• To serve as secretariat for the National Information Council

We pledge to:

• Prepare the Cabinet paper within a month
• Provide feedback on the decision of the Cabinet within a week
• Prepare and distribute minutes of the meeting where the division acted as secretariat within 7 days of   
  the date of the meeting
• Process payment vouchers within 2 days of the date the invoice is received
• Prepare development reports for the central agency within 3 days
• Prepare the broadcast monitoring reports within a week
