Background

The Strategic and Corporate Communications Division was previously known as the Strategic Communications Division. It consists of six (6) branches, namely:

i.   Strategic Information Management Branch
ii.  Strategic Relations Branch
iii.  Corporate Communications Branch
iv.  Media Relations Branch
v.  Creative Content Branch
vi. Digital Communications Branch

Vision, Mission & Objectives

VISION

  • To be an excellent information management centre that provides strategic information to the government
MISSION
  • To provide important analysed information in the form of special reports to the government on a periodic basis
OBJECTIVES
  • To manage strategic information on analysis of media trends and the people's perceptions of current issues in a timely and consistent manner
  • To devise an intervention plan to be submitted to stakeholders to help address current issues proactively and effectively
  • To plan, coordinate and implement communications management during a disaster/crisis/election in an efficient, integrated and effective manner
  • To establish and enhance relations and cooperation with influential parties/organisations
  • To serve as a communications consultant in the management of domestic official events and also international programmes

Functions & Roles

  • To serve as secretariat for the Cabinet Stratcomm Committee;
  • To monitor and analyse current issues which are tracked through a variety of sources (on the field, electronic media, print media and cyber media);
  • To plan and coordinate the Communications Intervention Plan to address current issues;
  • To coordinate the reporting of issues and media centres during elections;
  • To plan, manage and coordinate promotional and publicity programmes for events/ceremonies/official programmes involving the king and visits of foreign dignitaries;
  • To plan, manage and coordinate promotional and publicity programmes for international events/programmes;
  • To plan and implement programmes to foster relations and cooperation with media agencies/NGOs/student leaders and influential parties;
  • To manage and carry out studies on current issues through the call centre; and
  • To manage administrative, service and financial affairs

Client's Charter

The Strategic and Corporate Communications Division will ensure all entrusted responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the specified quality, accuracy of facts and time period.

  • To prepare cabinet papers on current issues, local media reports and positive as well as negative reports by foreign media on the 1st and 15th days of each month;
  • To prepare a report on analysis of weekly issues every Tuesday for presentation at the management meeting and post-Cabinet meeting
  • To prepare reports on monitoring activities and daily reports on issues from various media on a daily basis no later than 3.00 p.m.
  • To provide pointers on the week’s current issues
